Early Friday morning, a man was struck and killed after exiting a disabled vehicle on the 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park.

The incident took place around 3:05 a.m. when the passenger of a 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo stepped outside of their vehicle following a collision with a 2016 Volkswagen Passat. Shortly after the initial collision, the driver of a 2013 Toyota Prius struck the passenger standing outside of the Monte Carlo. The driver of the Prius continued to drive away, striking a 1995 Toyota Camry shortly afterward.

As stated by officials, the passenger of the Monte Carlo was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Monte Carlo, Passat, and Camry did not sustain any injuries in the collision, and the driver of the Prius was treated for minor injuries.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor in the cause of the collision.

If you have suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident, you have the right to pursue a personal injury claim.

Regardless of whether you were exiting a vehicle in the aftermath of a collision, or crossing the roadway, drivers have a responsibility to be aware of pedestrians. Due to a lack of external protection, injuries resulting from pedestrian accidents are often fatal.

Insurance adjusters are trained to ask questions that undermine your injuries and weaken the value of your personal injury claim. They are interested in protecting their own financial well-being and offering you the lowest possible settlement for what you’ve had to endure.
