A man crossing the street in South Bay was struck and killed by a car on Thursday.
Around 8:45 p.m., the man was crossing Palm Avenue. He was not in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle in the westbound lanes hit him.
Police said the vehicle, with a broken headlight, left the man lying in the center divider. First responders took the man to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
A few hours later, a woman in her mid-thirties called the police and told investigators she had struck something while driving earlier that evening.
The accident is under investigation, and no one has been arrested.
