An elderly man was killed and his wife was hurt after being struck by a car while crossing the street in West Covina on Thursday morning.

The couple was crossing Sunset Avenue at a marked crosswalk around 7 a.m. when the collision took place. A 27-year-old woman making a left turn from eastbound Fairgrove Avenue drove her Chevrolet Cruze through the crosswalk without noticing the couple.

The 79-year-old man died at the scene and his wife was severely injured. The woman driving stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.

When you’re involved in a pedestrian accident, the injuries can be severe, leaving you with expensive medical bills and having to inconveniently take time off work. The pain and suffering after these accidents can be extreme and the recovery process can be long and daunting.

Having the ability to pursue a personal injury claim can help, but seeking compensation on your own will be challenging. Not only will insurance adjusters devalue your injuries and argue that you don’t have a strong claim, but you’ll have doctor’s appointments and the need to rest as well.

Because dealing with insurance adjuster’s deceptive tactics and your recovery can be overwhelming, you have the right to seek help. Hiring the right attorney ensures that your claim receives the care it deserves. A good attorney fights for the fairest settlement while you focus on getting better.

At Bergener Mirejovsky, you can trust that our attorneys work with your best interests in mind. We work tirelessly for you so that you have time and space to heal. You can trust that we’re doing all we can to get you compensated for your losses.
