On Sunday evening, a 2-year-old girl and her father were hit by a vehicle while crossing a street in Whittier.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Santa Gertrudes Avenue, the 39-year-old driver of a Lexus who was heading north struck the father and daughter.
According to the CHP, there was no marked crosswalk where the two were crossing the street. The driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with the responding officers.
The toddler was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center where she later passed away. The father remains in critical condition.
