A 28-year-old man was convicted for riding a Bird electric scooter while under the influence on Wednesday.

The man was riding the scooter on a sidewalk in West Los Angeles when he knocked over a pedestrian and immediately fled the scene of the crime.

Police found him at a nearby apartment building with a blood-alcohol level that was over three times the legal limit.

Many are unaware of the legalities surrounding the largely popular electric scooters. Riding a Bird scooter while under the influence has similar consequences as driving a car while under the influence.

If you were injured by a drunk electric scooter rider, you are entitled to pursue compensation as a result of their negligence. Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable to electric scooter riders. When the operator of an electric scooter chooses to break safety laws, people can get seriously injured.
