A pedestrian was fatally struck in Tulare County just after midnight on Wednesday. While attempting to cross Highway 99, the pedestrian stepped off the center median and into lanes of traffic. The driver of a Honda traveling north on the highway noticed the pedestrian. She attempted to avoid him by swerving and applying the brakes.
Despite the driver’s efforts, the front of the Honda hit the pedestrian and caused major injuries. He died at the scene. The driver of the Honda did not suffer any injuries.
